China-Saudi Arabia Cooperation on Archaeology at the coast of the Red Sea

In order to implement the inter-governmental agreement between China and Saudi Arabia and to promote the cultural exchanges between nations along the Maritime Silk Road, China-Saudi Arabia Joint Archaeological Team, which combined with ChinaState Administration of Cultural Heritage Underwater Cultural Heritage Center and Saudi National Archaeological Center , organized a 20-day archaeological survey and excavation at AI Serrian, a portal heritage site along the Maritime Silk Road. The findings have far exceeded the expectation. Many Chinese por- celain fragments of different periods were excavated at various places of the site, indicated that the site is a trading port ruin along the Maritime Silk Road, providing valuable evidence for the archaeological study of the Maritime Silk Road.
