At the invitation of the International Council of Monuments and Sites
(ICOMOS), Jiang Bo, Vice Chairman of the China Association of Monuments
and Sites Conservation (ICOMOS CHINA) visited Uzbekistan
from November 29th to December 3rd, 2019, and attended the International
Seminar on "Heritage Protection, Capacity Building and Sustainable
Development" in Bukhara.
The theme of this conference is "Heritage Protection, Capacity Building
and Sustainable Development", which is co-sponsored by ICOMOS,
ICOMOS Uzbekistan and University of London. The conference was
attended by official representatives from the UNESCO Office in Tashkent,
ICOMOS, the Ministry of culture and tourism of Uzbekistan and
the municipal government of Bukhara, as well as more than 40 experts
from China, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Russia, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Tajikistan and the host country Uzbekistan. Scholars also deliv -
ered keynote speeches at the c onference to discuss issues such as
cultural heritage preservation, tourism development and sustainable
development.
