Many of the Silk Roads heritages are of large scale and quantities, remote and fragile. monitoring those properties is a difficult mission. Further more,monitoring management is an essential part of world heritage conservation. ICOMOS International Conservation Centre-Xi’ an (IICC-X) bears significant task of Silk Roads heritage monitoring management.
 
In 2014, higher requirements for monitoring and management were proposed after the successful nomination of the Silk Roads: Routes network of Chang’ an-Tianshan corridor. IICC-X has compiled the plan of “Monitoring Management System of the Silk Roads Heritage (China Section)”.
 
In 2015, the project “Monitoring Management Survey and Study for the Silk Roads Heritage (China Section)” has been approved by China State Administration of Cultural Heritage. This project was proposed by IICC-X, and will provide references for the guidance of the Silk Roads monitoring management in future.
 
In 2015, approved by China State Administration of Cultural Heritage, project “Report of State of Conservation and Management for the Silk Roads: Routes’ network of Chang’ an-Tianshan Corridor” is now being compiled by IICC-X.
