Hollywood Road’s galleries and antique shops are showcasing treasures from across Asia as the third edition of Asian Art Hong Kong (AAHK) comes to the city.

Organized by Orientations magazine, this year’s edition has nine participants presenting the best of Asian antiquities, as well as a satellite exhibition of the work of Pakistani contemporary artistShahzia Sikander taking place at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.

The expanded educational program is offering a slate of lectures, talks, and tours — many free of charge — at Maritime Museum, Bonhams Hong Kong, and the Asia Society Center. These events include a discussion of the book “The Art of Understanding Art” with its author, the artist Hugh Moss, and a talk on Han Dynasty Jades given by Dr. Xu Lin, a senior research fellow at the Palace Museum.

Those inspired by the lecture can view a curated selection of ancient jade at Tang’s Hall of Precious Limited. Other exhibitions at participating galleries and stores display items from across territories that are now part of India, Afghanistan, China, and the Himalayas — “Inspiration & Transformation: Treasures from Gandhara and Chang’an” at Art Serindia, “The Art of Song Dynasty” at K.Y. Fine Art, and “Precious Himalayas” at Hollywood Galleries.

Chan Shing Kee Furniture & Antiquities Co. and Lam & Co. Antiquities are showcasing furniture and sculpture respectively, while other organizations are highlighting early ceramics, classical furniture, and scholarly objects.

All the events share a dedication to championing Asian art. As AAHK organizers said in a statement, “Underlying the festival is a dedicated remit to promote the rich history and heritage of Asian art, as well as the enduring influences of antiquities in Hong Kong, China, and surrounding Asian countries today.”

Asian Art Hong Kong 2016 runs March 31-April 9.
