From March 24 to April 2, Vice President led by Zhang Xian- tang, the vice of Dunhuang Academy, the delegation visited Afghanistan, met with political and academic circles, and surveyed the historical and cultural heritages of Kabul Province and Bamyan Province. The visit was fruitful. Chinese Ambassa- dor to Afghanistan Liu Jinsong and Political Counselor Zhang Zhixin attended the event.

The delegation visited a number of Buddhist caves such as Bamiyan Valley, Kakrak, Foladi and Kelligan, Qallai Kafari and Zohak and other ancient city sites, especially many cave remains of Bamyan province, in comparison with Dunhuang Grottoes and discussed with local cultural institutions. It had achieved outcomes and laid the foundation for further exchanges and cooperation between China and Afghanistan.
