Xi’an Monitoring and Management Centre for Cultural
Heritage has been launched days ago. It bears the monitoring mission of 5
sites of World Heritage “The Silk Roads: Routes network of Chang’an-Tianshan
Corridor”in Xi’an. This is the initial monitoring institute which manages 5
World Cultural Heritage simultaneously. The centre constantly monitors the elements including settlement
of ancient architecture, conservation status of sites, climate change and the
changes of man-made/construction, compiles annual monitoring report, as well
as routine management and archive for cultural heritage conservation. There
are monitoring and management institutions for World Cultural Heritage in
China, however this centre is exclusive because it bears 5 heritages at the
same time. On 22nd June 2014, the project jointly nominated
by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan “the Silk Roads: Routes network of Chang’an-Tianshan
Corridor” was inscribed on the World Heritage List. Among those heritages, 7
sites in Shaanxi and 5 in Xi’an. This centre aims to monitor and manage those
5 sites, launched by Xi’an Administration of Cultural Heritage. (by Mr. Pang Bo, Translated by IICC-X) |
