LHASAApril 5 (Xinhua) -- Archaeologists have found 13 tombswhich are estimated to bebetween 1,800 and 2,700 years oldin Bomi County of southwest China's TibetAutonomous Region.

The tombs were discovered by construction workers during a road project in QundotownshipNyingchiin the second half of 2016, according to the regional institute of culturalrelics.

Two relatively complete human skeletons were found in two tombswhile human boneswere also discovered in other gravessaid Shaka Wangduassociate researcher with theinstitute.

Archaeologists found that the tombs appeared to follow a known burial customwhich isstill seen in parts of QundoAccording to the customafter the body has decayedthe bonesare exhumed and reburied.

Objects including eight complete examples of potterya millstonethree bronzearrowheads and iron residue were also found.

"The tombs will help research into Tibetan funeral customs and human development ineastern Tibet in a period without written records," said Shaka Wangdu.
