KURKAT VAULTS AND THE ANCIENT SETTLEMENT OF SHIRIN

The ancient settlement of Shirin with burial vaults of Kurkat is a unique multi-layered monument that reflects the history and culture of the almost thousand-year period of the ancient and early medieval Ustrushana. At the same time, the finds from the site of ancient settlement indicate its proximity to other monuments of Ustrushana, such as the fortifications of Nurtepa, Mugtep, Munchaktepa, as well as Afrasiab and ancient Khujand.

The ancient settlement of Shirin with burial vaults of Kurkat is one of the well-studied archaeological sites of Tajikistan on the Fergana-Syrdarya corridor of the Great Silk Road.
