Call for Application

1.Dates and Places

Dates of Course: 9th September to 30th September, 2019

Place: Kyoto and Hyogo, Japan

2. Sub theme of ITC2019

The 14th International Training Course will give special focus on the Integrated Protection of Immovable and Movable Cultural Heritage from Disasters.

3.Application Requirements

The participants for the course would be selected on the basis of following criteria:

· Number of Participants: Total number of 12 participants at maximum would be selected for this course, which would include half number of participants from disaster management or relevant fields and the other half from cultural heritage conservation field.

· The course organizers shall bear basic necessary costs for the participation of selected participants from developing countries.

· Participants from developed countries may also be accepted for the course provided they are selected through general application process and agree to cover their own costs for attending the course. Please refer course costs for details.

· Efficiency in training Implementation: It is expected that the participants from the cultural heritage field as well as disaster management field would work together during the course.

· Case Study Site/Museum: Each participant will select one case study site or museum in his or her own country. The cultural heritage site should be vulnerable to one or more natural hazards such as earthquake and/or fire and/or flood and/or landslide.

· Multiplying effect: It would be preferable if the participant is attached to a cultural heritage or disaster management department/ organization/ university, through which knowledge gained during the course can be disseminated at local/national or regional level.

4.Working language

The working language of the course will be English. Proficiency in the written and spoken English is an essential prerequisite for participation.

培训教师多来自于ICCROM、ICOMOS和日本及亚太地区文化遗产保护、灾害风险防御领域的资深专家或学者。课程内容一般会在系统梳理文化遗产保护理念的基础上，重点分析文化遗产灾害风险的发生机制，讲解风险认定和评估方法，介绍预防和减缓风险、灾害救援和灾后恢复的策略和技术，以及将灾害风险管理整合进遗产地保护管理系统的方式方法；并会实地考察日本曾经发生重大灾害的地区，和亲历灾害的保护管理者及当地社区一同回顾应对灾害的实践经验、教训，探讨应对未来灾害风险的策略，最后还会要求学员结合自己的案例，完成一个灾害风险管理策略的专题研究与大家分享。课程内容会相当丰富，为了确保教学质量，这个培训系列一直坚持小班教学。每届仅选取十几名学员，但会特意从遗产保护和防灾两个领域匹配选择，因为课程的主旨之一就是通过面对共同挑战的对话和沟通，填补两方面在专业知识和管理实践中的缺环。两周的安排也会相当有强度，但相信经过深入的研学和交流，学员的收获会非常大。”
