China Hosts First ICOMOS University Forum in Asia
9月21日,ICOMOS中国与清华大学建筑学院在北京合作举办首届中国文化遗产大学论坛。此次活动共有120名学者参加,旨在探索文化遗产研究的影响。论坛以“文化遗产学科发展”为主题,并涵盖了一系列主题,例如ICOMOS与大学资源之间的互动、文化遗产研究的理论和方法以及将其融入实践。来自8个国家(中国、日本、韩国、泰国、比利时、法国、巴西、墨西哥)的文化遗产学生和教授、专家和研究人员,以及来自中国10多所大学、WHITRAP和ICOMOS中国的代表参加了此次活动。
ICOMOS理事会副主席Leonardo Castriota在发言中发表了题为“威尼斯宪章与当代保护理论”的演讲,强调该创始文本以欧洲为中心的一面,并鼓励通过全球跨学科方法采用更加多样化和包容性的保护方法。
ICOMOS董事会成员Doo-Won Cho和Takeyuki Okubo也参加了此次论坛。Doo-Won Cho发表了关于军事和强化遗产的演讲,分析了其功能属性、社会经济价值以及在保存记忆和战略思维方面的作用。随后,Takeyuki Okubo讨论了风险准备和灾害风险管理的重要性,强调需要通过能力建设计划培训遗产专业人员。 ICOMOS中国的主席宋新潮回顾了ICOMOS青年人才计划的成果、ICOMOS中国参与ICOMOS青年工作组以及在中国建立和发展文化遗产相关项目的情况。最后,ICOMOS中国的副主席兼论坛主席张杰探讨了“中国文化遗产保护中的跨学科研究应用与发展趋势”。
论坛结束后,与会者参观了北京的景山公园和钟鼓楼,了解北京市的文物保护工作。同时,也宣布了第二届ICOMOS中国文化遗产大学论坛将于2025年在天津举行。
On 21 September, ICOMOS China held its 1st University Forum dedicated to Chinese cultural heritage in collaboration with Tsinghua University’s School of Architecture, in Beijing. A total of 120 attendees participated in this event aimed to explore the implications of cultural heritage studies.The forum’s theme ‘Advancements in the Discipline of Cultural Heritage’ encompassed a range of topics such as the interactions between ICOMOS and university resources, the theory and methodology of cultural heritage studies, and its integration into practice. Participants in the event included cultural heritage students and professors, experts and researchers from 8 countries (China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Belgium, France, Brazil, Mexico), and representatives from over 10 Chinese universities, WHITRAP, and ICOMOS China.Among the speakers were ICOMOS Vice President Leonardo Castriota, who delivered a presentation on ‘The Venice Charter and Contemporary Conservation Theory’, highlighting the Eurocentric aspect of this founding text and encouraging more diverse and inclusive conservation approaches through global interdisciplinary methods.ICOMOS Board members Doo-Won Cho and Takeyuki Okubo also took part in the event. Doo-Won Cho delivered a speech on military and fortified heritage, analysing its functional attributes, socio-economic value, and role in preserving memory and strategic thinking. Takeyuki Okubo then discussed the importance of risk preparedness and disaster risk management, emphasising the need to train heritage professionals through capacity-building programmes. Song Xinchao, President of ICOMOS China, reflected on the outcomes of ICOMOS youth talent initiatives, ICOMOS China's participation in the ICOMOS Youth Working Group, and the establishment and development of cultural heritage-related programs in China. Finally, ICOMOS China Vice President and Chair of the forum Zhang Jie explored the ‘Interdisciplinary Research Applications and Development Trends in Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation’. The day following the forum, participants visited Jingshan Park and the Bell and Drum Towers in Beijing to better understand the city's heritage conservation efforts. The 2nd ICOMOS China Cultural Heritage University Forum will be held in Tianjin in 2025.
