01 Heritage Overview
Kyaung Lain Temple is located in the western part of the outer city of Inwa, Myanmar, with GPS coordinates at 21°50′55.8″N, 95°57′5419.21″E. Its base measures 20.7 meters in length and width, and the overall height is 7.9 meters. The temple was originally built during the Nyaung Yan Era of the Taungoo Dynasty and is entirely constructed from brick.

02 Architectural Features
The temple is rectangular in shape, and its exterior features recessed mandapa-style porticos and niches, creating distinctive light and shadow effects.
The entrances are located on the east, west, and north sides, each with a unique vaulted vestibule topped with a stupa, which differentiates them from the entrances of other temples. The most distinctive feature is the massive recess in the center of the front and side facades, which houses a giant stupa as the entrance passage. Devotees must pass through the base of the stupa to enter the main hall. The building includes clerestory windows to provide natural lighting, with the main staircase located on the north side, while a side staircase is located on the east side of the central corridor. The upper floor of the temple retains the traces of octagonal corner stupas, each with four steps.
Kyaung Lain Temple showcases the artistic charm and historical depth of Burmese Buddhist architecture through its innovative stupa-style entrances, recessed facades, and two-story structure.

03 Damages Condition
