From 22 to 26 September , 2019, the Sixth Meeting of the Coordinating Committee on the Serial Transnational Nomination for World Heritage of the Silk Roads was Held in Hama - dan, Iran. As the fruit of concerted international efforts, the conference is based on five former Coordinating Committee Meetings. The conference works on one inscribed World Heritage property “Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang’ an – Tianshan Corridor” , and two tentative properties including “Silk Roads: Fergana-Syrdarya Corridor” and “Silk Roads: Zaravshan-Karakum Corridor” (former name: “S ilk Roads: Penjikent-Samarkand-Poykent Corridor”),the latter expired its revision date and was required to re-submit its nomination. The conference was hosted by the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO and the Iranian Cultural Heritage Handi - crafts and Tourism Organization, in cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the UNESCO Cluster Office in Tehran. Main Outcomes: 1. Reviewed the decision of the 5th Committee Meeting held in Ashgabat, and other latest work outcomes of the Central Asia and South Asia sub-regional areas. 2. Introduced the theme research on “The Silk Roads: Need for further work on their scope and extent” made by Susan Denyer, on the Silk Roads cultural heritage conservation and nomination. 3. Reviewed the State of Conservation Report of the “Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang’ an – Tianshan Corridor” by the representatives of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz - stan, and IICC-X. 4. Presented current status of conservation and nomi nation process of the referred property “ S i l k R o a d s Z a r a v s h a n - Karakum Corridor (former name Penjikent-Samarkand- Poykent Corridor)” (Tajikistan n and Uzbekistan) 5. Presented current status of conservation and nomi nation process of the “Silk Roads: Fergana-Syrdarya Corridor” (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan); 6. Presented conservation status of the Silk Roads South Asian Corridor by China and Nepal. |
