The specialists of IICAS implemented a detailed photogrammetry of a
series of the sites (complex of Kasym Shaikh, mausoleum of Mir Said
Bakhrom, mausoleum of Deggaron and oasis wall of Bukhara) in th e
framework of the project for the nomination of the historical and cultural
heritage sites of the Navoi Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the
World Heritage List of UNESCO. Such information as the detailed 3D
models of the sites, the digital elevation model (DEM), topography and
high quality orthophoto mosaic of the territory of sites with the surrounding
areas, was collected in its course.
At the moment, one of the preparation stages of the nomination dossier
is being completed, specifically the project of the boundaries and protection
zones of the sites. The aim of this project is to define or clarify the
boundaries of the site and its protection zones, in accordance with the
legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO criteria. For the
successful implementation of this project, local and foreign specialists
of high level were involved. The following activities were completed
in the course of this project:
--collection of a large amount of the arc hive data allowing to form
the most complete image of historical and cultural basics of development,
architectural and town-planning features of the sites;
--identification of the rules of maintenance and use of the terri tory
of the site and its protection zones;
--update of the passports of the sites.
